Surpassing even golden brilliance.
The ocean of love, ever-joyful Lord Madhava—
Even contact with His feet is supremely auspicious. ||2||

🪔 Reflection:

This soulful composition by Shri Vidya Prasanna Teertha Swamiji compares pure devotion to a fragrant flower in Lord Krishna’s celestial garden—a flower that does not bloom for attention but offers itself in quiet surrender. The bhajan reminds us that true bhakti is not bound by rituals or rules, nor is it a commodity for trade. It is a light kindled by intense love, one that transforms even the hardest of hearts. The imagery of Krishna’s divine form, so luminous that it dims gold, draws us into a space where even a touch of His feet brings blessings beyond measure. This song teaches us that in simplicity, there is sacredness; in pure devotion, there is completeness.

🔤 English Transliteration (Non-Phonetic):

Ee pariya sobagava devarali kaane

🌸 English Meaning:

Can such grandeur be seen in anyone but the Lord Krishna?
He is the beloved of the Gopis, our Gopala, none other.

See his majesty—as consort to the Earth Goddess,
See his wealth—as Shri (Lakshmi)’s eternal companion,
See his seniority—as the creator Brahma bows to him,
See his mastery—as the original Guru of the universe. ||1||

See his purity—as the divine father of sacred Ganga,
See his divinity—as Lord of the celestials,
See his beauty—as the one who captivates the cosmos,
See his courage—as the one who moves all with strength. ||2||

He rides across the skies on Garuda,
He rests upon the cosmic serpent Adisesha,
Beyond the grasp of scriptures is this Vittala of Purandara—
Do the other gods even have a fortune like his? ||3||

🪔 Reflection:

Purandara Dasa, often hailed as the Father of Carnatic Music, weaves a vision of Lord Vittala that blends awe, beauty, power, and transcendence. This composition sings not just of God’s form but His pervasiveness—as majesty, purity, courage, and grace. For Dasa, no worldly attribute—be it kingship, beauty, or wisdom—exists apart from the Divine. Everything reaches its pinnacle only when associated with the Lord. The image of Vishnu resting on Adishesha or flying on Garuda is not mere mythology; it is the soul’s longing for a Divine beyond reach yet deeply intimate.

This song becomes a mirror to the devotee, reminding us that the source of all we admire—dignity, knowledge, love, leadership—flows from the Supreme. When we seek that source, not the shadows, we begin to live in spiritual clarity. The closing line is piercing: “Do other gods have such fortune?” It is a gentle nudge to recognize that the ultimate shelter, the highest treasure, lies in surrender to Purandara’s Vittala—a god beyond the scriptures, yet found in the heart of a humble song.

You destroyed the demon Hiranyakashipu,

The axe that clears the evil forest of arrogance,
Friend of the helpless—Your skill is matchless. ||3||

Accessible and inaccessible,
Worshipped by both liberated and bound souls,
Delightful, faultless giver of grace—eternal giver of boons to Prahlāda. ||4||

O Jagannātha Vitthala, friend without cause,
Now I offer my childlike prayers,
You, who play as a father, nourish as a mother—
May you forever feed me the nectar of divine stories with compassion. ||5||

🧘 Reflection:

This profound composition by Śrī Jagannātha Dāsaru, a revered Haridāsa saint of the 18th century, is not just a hymn—it's a soul’s intimate dialogue with the ferocious yet compassionate Lord Narasimha. In every stanza, the poet weaves Vedic imagery with heartfelt surrender. The fierce protector becomes the gentle parent, the cosmic flame becomes a comforting embrace. Historically, Jagannātha Dāsaru played a pivotal role in shaping Dvaita Vedanta devotional literature in Kannada, and this kr̥ti is a testament to his poetic and spiritual brilliance.

This song is significant as it captures the entire spiritual essence of Narasimha avatāra—the divine intervention that destroyed ego and protected truth (Prahlāda’s bhakti). In today's uncertain world, this song reminds us that behind the ferocity of fate is the tender hand of divinity. For the one who remembers Him with sincerity, He is not the terrifying lion-man, but the loving guardian who listens like a mother and nourishes like a father. The final verse flows like a quiet offering of the heart—where devotion becomes the only language, and Lord Vitthala emerges as the compassionate storyteller guiding the soul on its timeless journey.

Wonderful lyrics, Awesome singing and vibrant music makes it a truly divine experience.

🌸 English Meaning:

Rama played in the courtyard, And insisted he wanted the moon. ||Chorus||

He called his mother and pointed with his hand, He gazed intently towards the sky. His small stick, ball, and top, everything, He threw away saying, "No, no, I don't want them." ||2||

"Come, my child," his mother called, coaxing him to eat. Mother Kausalya became worried, thinking, "My child is scared." ||3||

Hearing his crying, the king along with his minister rushed there, And brought a standing mirror. He lifted Sri Rama and caressed him. ||4||

Rama saw the reflection in the mirror. He danced with joy, thinking he got the moon. Witnessing this delight, Adikeshava Praised the entire Raghu dynasty. ||5||

🪔 Reflection: This beautiful kirtana by Sri Kanaka Dasaru, a revered saint and composer of the 16th century, captures the enchanting innocence of child Rama. Like any child, he yearns for the moon, and his parents, Kausalya and Dasharatha, demonstrate boundless love and ingenuity to fulfill his desire. Beyond the charming narrative, this bhajan subtly conveys profound spiritual truths. Just as Rama finds the moon's reflection in a mirror, the divine is often perceived through reflections in our own hearts and the world around us. The pure joy Rama experiences upon "catching" the moon symbolizes the bliss found in realizing the divine presence.

Kanaka Dasaru, originally a warrior named Thimmappa Nayaka, transformed into a devout saint after a life-altering experience, dedicating his life to spreading devotion. He used simple yet profound compositions like this one to make spiritual concepts accessible to all, transcending societal barriers and emphasizing that true devotion knows no bounds. His works, often signed with "Kagineleya Adikeshava" (a form of Lord Krishna), celebrate the pure, unadulterated love between the devotee and the Lord, and the simple ways in which the divine manifests.

To one who bestows Vedic knowledge, You grant worldly fame. O Sri Vijayavithala, beloved of Maiduna, this experience is witnessed by Your feet. (7)

🪔 Reflections:

Sri Vijayadasaru (1682-1755) was a towering figure in the Haridasa movement, a lineage of saint-composers who propagated devotion (Bhakti) through simple, yet profound, Kannada songs (devaranamas and ugabhogas). He is considered one of the most prominent among the later Haridasas, often referred to as the "Father of the Haridasa movement in the post-Purandaradasa era." Born in a village near Manvi, Raichur district, he initially led a life of worldly pursuits. However, a transformative spiritual experience led him to renounce his previous life and dedicate himself to devotion. He received the ankita (pen name) "Vijayavithala" from his guru, Purandara Dasaru's disciple, and composed thousands of kritis, many of which are still sung today. His compositions are known for their philosophical depth, lyrical beauty, and accessibility to the common person.

This particular bhajan, "Ninna Olumeyinda," is a classic example of Vijayadasaru's humble and deeply surrender-filled compositions. It beautifully illustrates the core Haridasa philosophy that all achievements, all wealth, and all honor are ultimately due to the Lord's grace, not the individual's merit. The song's significance lies in its powerful message of divine unconditional grace (olume) and the devotee's complete humility (daasya). It serves as a spiritual guide, encouraging listeners to shed ego and recognize the divine hand in every aspect of their lives, leading to profound contentment and liberation. It's a testament to the Haridasa tradition's emphasis on direct, personal experience of God's love.

Aanik dusare maja nahi aata | आणीक दुसरें मज नाहीं आतां

📜 Original Marathi Lyrics:

आणीक दुसरें मज नाहीं आतां ।

जागृती स्वप्नी पांडुरंग ॥ध्रु.॥

कृति: संत तुकाराम महाराज

🔤 English Transliteration:

Panduranga dhyani Panduranga mani

padile valan indriya sakala

Tuka mhane netri keli olakhana

🌸 English Meaning:

Now, I have no desire for anything else—
My heart has been firmly fixed in Him. ||1||

In my thoughts, it is Panduranga; in my mind, only Panduranga;
Even in waking and in dreams—it is Panduranga. ||Refrain||

All my senses have aligned to this one path;
There is no other feeling, no other love. ||2||

Tukaram says, I recognized Him through my eyes—
This unwavering meditation is on the brick where He stands. ||3||

🪔 Reflection:

This beautiful abhang by Sant Tukaram speaks of complete devotion—where nothing else matters anymore. The mind is no longer pulled in many directions. It is peacefully anchored in one name, one form—Panduranga. Whether awake or asleep, in thought or feeling, the saint finds only Vitthala. There is no second desire, no second path.

The line about the senses taking a new turn is especially deep—it tells us that even the body and its impulses begin to follow the path of devotion when the heart is truly filled with love. Tukaram’s recognition of the Lord on the brick is symbolic. It’s not just about seeing with the eyes, but feeling the divine presence with the heart. For him, Vitthala is not a distant God, but a living presence, constant and close.

In a world filled with distractions, this bhajan reminds us of the joy of focusing on just one truth, one name, one love. When the heart becomes steady like that brick, the divine becomes visible—not just in temples, but in our every breath.

LyricsMadhav Kamath Arbet

🌸 English Meaning

Victory to Vitthala, to Hari Vitthala,
Vitthala is the Lord who created this world.
Cling to His holy feet always;
He alone can take us to the final shore.
Hold tight with faith, never let go.

Worship the King who stands on a brick,
Sing rhythmically with cymbals and devotion.
He wears a yellow garment,
His hand resting on His waist,
And grants all heartfelt wishes. ॥1॥

Together, O devotees, chant His name loudly.
Keep His divine form in the heart,
And He will destroy all your suffering. ॥2॥

Remembering Vitthala burns away sins
As heavy as mountains.
He destroys the dark forest
Of accumulated evil. ॥3॥

Vitthala is father and mother,
Friend and companion too.
His name alone brings true happiness.
He leads us to the city of Vaikuntha—
Have unwavering faith always. ॥4॥

🪔 Reflection

This is most beautiful bhajan that offers a simple but profound truth: Vitthala is everything—creator, protector, friend, and the very goal of life. His image of standing calmly on a brick, hand on hip, teaches patience, assurance, and presence. When life becomes overwhelming, remembering His name brings clarity and courage.

The bhajan also emphasizes collective devotion. When devotees chant Vitthala’s name together, the name becomes a force that cleanses and elevates. Even sins as large as mountains fade in the light of pure remembrance. Vitthala is not only to be worshipped in temples, but to be loved as a companion in life’s journey. His name is strength in sorrow, and His feet are the true refuge. Let our hearts never let go of Him, and let our faith always guide us home—to our own inner Vaikuntha.

🌸 English Meaning:

Ugabhoga:
Let desire exist only to behold You.
Let anger arise only when I see those against You.
Let greed be to never let go of Your lotus feet.
Let me remain forever entranced by Your holy Name.

May I be drunk with the bliss of chanting Your Name,
And if there’s any envy, let it be for not becoming like Your devotees.
To be called Yours is the richest identity, O victorious Vijaya Vittala.

Bhajan:
You are the merciful, pure-hearted Govinda,
The unfathomable Mukunda known through sacred wisdom.

You are the king of the enlightened; without You, this world holds no charm.
I no longer honor earthly kings out of pride.

You destroy demons, uplift the meek,
And dwell in the still hearts of meditators.
In the silence of Your meditation, I now rest
With love, waiting like the sages Sanaka and others.

In many ways I praise You, O Smiling One,
Bird-mounted Lord!
Like a child I babble, and You smile and listen.
Come quickly and protect me, O Ocean-Sleeper!

Holder of Mount Mandara, Lotus-eyed Lord—
Consider me always as Your child.
What doubt remains now, O Mukunda?
I surrender—please protect me, O Shri Purandara Vittala!

🪔 Reflections:

This bhajan begins with a heartfelt ugabhoga, where the poet redefines desire, anger, greed, and pride—not as flaws to renounce, but as emotions to be divinely redirected. The longing here is not for the world, but for His darshan, His feet, and His name. As the actual bhajan begins, Purandara Dasa paints the image of a Lord who is not far away in scriptures, but close—smiling, listening, accepting even childish words with joy. The poet becomes a child before the eternal parent, finding refuge in innocence and love. The plea is not for power or salvation, but for presence—for Krishna to just be there. This is the heart of bhakti: not in perfection, but in total surrender, where every emotion and every breath is offered to the Lord.

With eyes like lotus petals, You dwell in the minds of sages.

You are the supreme witness, the highest among all, appearing in every Guru’s form.
You are the beloved of the heart, the ocean of bliss, the divine light of Dasharatha’s lineage.

Whether master, servant, brother, or lord — all roles merge into You.
Keshava says: "Grant me your grace, I surrender at Your feet." ||4||

🎼 Composer: Ram Pathak

🪔 Reflection:

This soulful abhang radiates the essence of deep, uninterrupted remembrance — smaran — of lotus feet of the Divine ie Lord Sri Ram. The devotee speaks of a love so pervasive that it is woven into every mundane act — sitting, sleeping, eating, traveling. When the heart is captured by divine beauty, there remains no division between spiritual and worldly; every action becomes devotion.

In these verses, Rama is not only the object of love but the very vision of truth — the unchanging reality behind all appearances. The lotus-eyed Lord lives not in temples alone but in the contemplative hearts of sages and saints. The bhajan gently teaches us that the Divine expresses through many forms — Guru, friend, brother, or guide — yet all are facets of the same cosmic being.

Keshava’s final plea — surrendering at Rama’s feet — reminds us of our own inner longing. In this age where distractions abound, may this song lead us inward, where love flows as remembrance, and remembrance becomes grace. 🌺

Mukunda is the delight of Radha’s heart,
A beautiful dance of Shrida Vittala—joy to the eyes, joy to the soul. || 5 ||

🪔 Reflections:

This playful bhajan by Śrīdaviṭṭhaladāsaru captures the charming mischief of young Krishna through Gopi’s voice—equal parts exasperation and secret delight. The scenes painted are vivid and endearing: Krishna sneaking in, stealing butter, pulling sarees, and teasing with a smile that melts all anger. The bhajan transforms these seemingly ordinary moments into spiritual metaphors.

Krishna's mischief here is not mere play—it is his divine leela, through which he draws the hearts of devotees. The saree-pulling becomes symbolic of stripping away ego, the butter-theft a metaphor for extracting the essence of love from the devotee's heart. The bhajan’s rhythm flows with lightness and joy, but its depth lies in how love, play, and surrender entwine.

For the devotee, Gopala is never just a boy—he is the Lord who delights, tests, and ultimately fills the heart with ananda. The dance described in the final stanza reflects the ultimate vision of the divine: not still or distant, but moving, living, laughing—a beautiful dance of Vittala in the world, in our minds, and in our hearts. 🙏

Govinda Gopala Gopavesha-dhari
Govardhana dhari nakhaavari ||3||

Dushta durjanasī dukkha fār chittaam
Pāvana patitām Nāma mhane ||4||

Lyrics : Sant Namdev Maharaj

🌸 English Meaning:

O Lord of Pandharpur, complete with divine qualities,
You are our Master, the lion among kings. ||1||

You are Rama, Krishna, Hari, Shridhara, and Mukunda—
Bringer of joy to the virtuous, beyond all attributes. ||2||

O Govinda, O Gopala, the one who dons the cowherd form,
You held aloft the Govardhana mountain on your fingertip. ||3||

The wicked are filled with deep sorrow at heart,
But to the fallen and the pure-hearted, you bring liberation—says Nama. ||4||

🪔 Reflection:

This abhang by Sant Namdev Maharaj is a vibrant celebration of Vitthala's many forms and his boundless compassion. Sant Namdev paints a picture of a God who is not distant or abstract, but one who is deeply saguna—possessing all virtues, accessible, present in form, and full of divine leelas. Whether as Rama, Krishna, or the cowherd Gopala, He takes many forms to uphold righteousness and support His devotees.

The line “Govardhan dhari nakhavarī” captures the playful yet powerful essence of Krishna—lifting an entire mountain on the tip of His finger to protect His people. But perhaps the most powerful verse is the last: even as the wicked suffer due to their own mind’s turbulence, Vitthala remains ever-ready to uplift the fallen. In one breath, Nama affirms the mercy of the Lord for those who sincerely surrender.

In a world where perfection is often demanded, this bhajan gently reminds us that even the broken are welcome in Pandharpur. The divine isn’t seeking perfect beings—it seeks open hearts. Let us walk the Dindi of life with that faith. Vitthala is waiting, arms open, to turn our suffering into swananda—pure joy.

Is the majestic and solemn Viththala. ||2||

He is the divine consort of Rukmini,
The uplifter of all His devotees.
He is the very source of compassion,
The noble and generous Narayana. ||3||

🪔 Reflection:

This bhajan by Sant Bhadragiri Achyutadasaru paints an intimate and deeply devotional portrait of Lord Viththala. It is not just about how He looks, but about what He evokes—a sacred presence rooted in humility, beauty, and strength. The imagery of Him standing on a brick, calm and unshaken, speaks of His unwavering support to devotees like Pundalik. The yellow robe and tulsi mala remind us of His divine grace and simplicity.

But beyond the form lies the feeling—He is not only the consort of Rukmini but the source of refuge for every seeking heart. He is the embodiment of compassion, silently watching, patiently uplifting. On Ashadha Ekadashi, as millions chant His name, this bhajan gently invites us inward—to see Him not just in temples or images but in the silent strength and gentle kindness within us. Standing on the brick of our faith, may Viththala also stand firm in our hearts. 🙏

🌸 English Meaning

Spent life meaninglessly,
Forgetting the Guru, came and left just like that—
Like an Avadhuta who wandered in and out. || P ||

You didn’t burn past impressions and karmas,
Were born again into this worldly ocean...
Forgetting the Guru, you suffered in samsara. || 1 ||

You didn’t trust the Guru, nor live by his word,
Held tight to your ego—“I, me, mine,”
Lost in illusion, and perished. || 2 ||

You cleansed only your outer body,
But did you purify your subtle self?
With doubt ruling your mind,
You fell into the pit. || 3 ||

You didn’t seek the truth, nor chant with devotion,
Toiled for selfish goals all your life...
And the body simply collapsed. || 4 ||

The soul never dies, the body never truly lives,
When the body returns to dust...
Merge with the Guru and attain liberation. || 5 ||

God Himself came to earth, received knowledge from the Guru,
Walked in the footsteps of the Guru...
And upheld Dharma. || 6 ||

🪔 Reflection

This deeply meaningful Song is a heartfelt cry of spiritual regret—a soul that realizes the futility of life lived without surrender to the Guru. The refrain is a sobering truth: even after meeting the divine Master, one may simply come and go like a wanderer—unless the Guru’s guidance is deeply internalized.

Each stanza gently pierces the layers of ego, doubt, and illusion. The poet reminds us that cleansing the outer self is useless if we don’t clear our inner impurities. Despite relentless effort, if our goals are selfish, our life ends in weariness and collapse. But hope is not lost—there’s a path to liberation. The Guru, who is both mirror and bridge, alone can take us beyond.

The last verse is especially powerful: even the Divine incarnates seek knowledge from the Guru and walk in his way. If the Lord Himself bows to the Guru, shouldn't we? The message is clear—do not wait for the body to weaken or for lifetimes to pass. Find your Guru, follow his footsteps, and let your journey become light, purpose, and final peace.
