English Meaning

O Ananta (the infinite one), Madhusūdana (slayer of the demon Madhu), Padmanābha (the one with a lotus in his navel), Nārāyaṇa (the sustainer of the universe).

You are the God of all gods, the primal deity, and compassionate Kesava (one with beautiful hair).
You are the source of great joy and possess a magnificent, noble nature. You are Sadashiva (eternally auspicious) and of natural divine form.

O Lord, who is beyond attributes, both with form and without form, the creator of the universe, and the life of the world.
You are Vasudeva (the son of Vasudeva), the beloved son of Devaki, the child Krishna who brings joy.

Tukaram (the poet-saint) has come, bowing at your feet, seeking refuge.
This is my humble plea: please release me from the bonds of this worldly existence.

English Meaning

Vaikunṭha Nārāyaṇa Viṭṭhala (refers to the Lord Vishnu in his form as Viṭṭhala, who resides in Vaikunṭha, the celestial abode).

I meditate upon Viṭṭhala, whose feet are like lotuses, who has a deep blue complexion like a dense cloud, who holds the world in his hands, who is adorned with ornaments, and who wears a fresh tulasi (holy basil) garland around his neck. He has lotus-like eyes and a gentle, bright smile.

The Lord Vishnu, who resides in Vaikunṭha, descended to this earth as Śrīhari to bless his devotees with love.

He bears the Goddess Lakshmi on his chest and arrived as the elder brother of Lakṣmaṇa (Rama) with all auspicious qualities. Holding the seven worlds in his belly, he rushed swiftly to protect us.

Accompanied by the celestial musicians Narada and Tumburu, and joined by Hanuman (Māruti) with great enthusiasm, Viṭṭhala, in his threefold form, came running to display his divine play, glorifying the entire universe.

The blessed Vāsudeva (Krishna) came, the resident of Śeṣācala (Tirumala), Venkataramana, arrived. The saintly Dasar Keshava, who lived in the Dasashrama, arrived, guided by the advice of the saints. Mukunda (the one who grants liberation) came to bless his devotees.

For those who chant the name of Rama, is there any bondage to worldly existence?

The wife of Kama’s destroyer (Parvati) constantly worships with devotion.
Shiva became blessed and the silent sage. Lady (Ahalya Devi) was sanctified,
The son of the Sun (Sugreeva) attained the highest position, Young Dhruva attained divinity, Hari (Lord Vishnu), pleased with the determination, devotion, and purity of the young Dhruva, blessed him with eternal divinity, making him shine as the everlasting Dhruva star (Pole Star).

Oh Krishna, we welcome you. Your abode is at Madhura. Your face is very charming. You are destroyer of demon Madhu.

You are easily accessible to those who pine for you. You are adorned with fragrant flowers. You shine with Kasturi Tiakam on your forehead. You are the delight of Gopikas. You are our Lord.

Oh Madhusudana, you skillfully vanquished demons Mushtika and Chanura. You are destroyer of evil in the world. You saved Gokulam by subduing Kaliya serpent and dancing on its hood.

English Meaning

The unborn one took birth,
In the dark prison, Krishna was born.

The virtuous Devaki, rare among the gods,

As the sound of "Soham Soham" echoed,
Devaki, the mother, turned to cradle her baby,

English Meaning

At Vithoba's Feet, the Brick Trembled

The sound of bells in the temple resonated loudly.

A sigh arose in the breeze of Dehu,

And Tukaram was stirred in his meditation.

The Protector of the Helpless,

Leaving behind his mortal body,

The Vaishnav departed for Vaikuntha.

The last gem in the garland of saints,

Suddenly fell, all at once.
