Lyrics: Sri Prasanna Venkata Dasaru

🌸 English Meaning

How infinitely rich is this Lord, the beloved of Lakshmi!
How immeasurably wealthy is the Eternal One!

He is the source of Brahma, the origin beyond origins,
The supreme wonder that enchants even the gods—
His glory is boundless, beyond all measure.

He is auspiciousness dwelling in the lotus heart,
The auspiciousness of the universe itself.
Adorned with radiant beauty, lotus-eyed,
His presence dissolves all impurity.

Reclining on the cosmic serpent, exalted and supreme,
Riding the king of serpents,
He alone grants the highest bliss,
Who else can stand equal before Him, O Lord?

He is dear to those who know liberation,
Easily attainable to true seekers.
There is nothing lovable within me except You,
No word, no thought exists apart from You.

Ocean of compassion who shelters the universe,
Who swallows cosmic chaos with grace,
O Prasanna Venkata, radiant and complete—
I belong to You alone, says the devoted servant.

🪔 Reflection

Entha Shrimantaanantano Shrikaanteya Kaanta” is considered a milestone composition in the life and spiritual journey of Sri Prasanna Venkata Daasaru. According to traditional accounts preserved in the Haridasa lineage, this song emerged during a defining encounter that revealed both the saint’s spiritual depth and his extraordinary poetic brilliance.

It is said that the ruling Peshwa, having heard of Prasanna Venkata Daasaru’s reputation as a poet-saint, sent his personal stenographer as an emissary to summon the Dasaru to the royal court. The emissary, proud of his own skill and speed in writing, spoke at length about his mastery over words and script while extending the invitation. The conversation, filled with subtle ego, became the setting for a quiet yet powerful spiritual response.

Instead of engaging in debate, Prasanna Venkata Daasaru spontaneously burst into an impromptu Kannada composition, praising the infinite wealth and glory of Lord Vishnu—“Entha Shrimantaanantano Shrikaanteya Kaanta.” The verses flowed with such speed, rhythmic complexity, and layered meaning that the emissary, despite his professional training, found himself unable to write it down. The song unfolded almost like a modern rap—swift, dense, and unstoppable—leaving the listener stunned.

In that moment, the emissary’s pride dissolved. Acknowledging his defeat, he recognized that true mastery of language does not arise from technique alone, but from grace and devotion. The episode became a living demonstration of the song’s message itself: real “shrimanta” (wealth) lies not in worldly skill or position, but in surrender to the Infinite. Thus, this composition stands not merely as a lyrical hymn, but as a historical testament to the power of bhakti-infused wisdom overcoming ego and intellect alike.

The beauty of this song lies in the intricacy of its lyrics. They are so layered and precise that one must listen to the song many times, slowly and attentively, absorbing each letter and nuance. Only then does the magic reveal itself—when the words begin to flow effortlessly, as if the song has started singing itself through you.
