🌸 English Meaning

O Krishna, whose eyes bloom like fresh lotus petals—
O flawless treasure-house of divine virtues, Hare Krishna!

You who lifted the mighty Mandara Mountain,
You who charm the hearts of all beings—
O Mukunda, the Govinda of sacred Brindavan!

Adorned with garlands woven from new tulasi groves,
O Govinda whose eyes shine like the radiance of rising lotus petals.

Bearer of the holy conch and the mighty discus,
O Shri Govinda, lotus-eyed embodiment of supreme bliss!

🪔 Reflection

This gentle composition by M. Sambashiva Iyer paints Krishna in soft strokes—lotus-eyed, tulasi-garlanded, resplendent with conch and discus, yet deeply intimate in His presence. These descriptions are not mere poetic ornaments; each line invites the devotee to experience Krishna as the inner refuge of strength, compassion and joy. The reference to Mandara Mountain reminds us that the Divine lifts our burdens long before we realize it. Brindavan here is not only a place outside but a fragrant inner space where the mind rests in sweetness.

Tulasi garlands, lotus petals, and the glow of bliss all hint at a mind purified through devotion. What qualities of Krishna are we nurturing within ourselves? How does His gentle gaze steady our journey through life's storms? Bhajans like this do not just praise the Lord; they refine the heart until it mirrors the beauty it sings about. In remembering Govinda, we remember our own divine essence and return to a place of peace and tenderness within.
