📜 Original Kannada Lyrics:

ಕರೆದರೆ ಬರಬಾರದೆ
ಗುರುವೇ ಕರೆದರೆ ಬರಬಾರದೆ ||ಪ||

Lyrics: Shri Kamalesha Vitthhala Dasaru

🌸 English Meaning:

Why Do not you come, O Guru, when I call You. ||P||

In Your heavenly abode, where Your devotees ever serve at Your feet,
Their duties complete, their love fulfilled —
Why Do not you come when I call You. ||1||

As the Haridasas sing in melodious union,
Lost in ecstasy, their voices resound —
Do not come when I call You. ||2||

O Lord Kamalesha Vitthhala, adored by the greatest among saints,
In this sacred moment of surrender —
Ehy Do not you come when I call You,
For the Guru’s call must never be resisted. ||3||

🪔 Reflection:

This soulful composition by Shri Kamalesha Vitthhala Dasaru on Guru Sri Raghavendra Rayaru embodies the paradox of true devotion — the yearning that asks not for the divine to appear, because the heart already feels His presence. The devotee recognizes that when love reaches its peak, calling becomes unnecessary; the Guru resides permanently within. The phrase “Karedare barabarade” (“Why dont you come when I call You”) is not denial but divine intimacy — the silence of realization that the Guru and the self are one.

The poet Kamalesha Vitthhala Dasaru, known among the Haridasa lineage, continues the timeless tradition of surrender and humility before the divine teacher. The song’s emotional depth, especially when sung by Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, transforms into a prayer of self-effacement — the seeker’s plea to dissolve in devotion so completely that the need for external calling disappears. In this surrender, the Guru’s grace is omnipresent, and separation ceases to exist.
