📜 Original Marathi Lyrics:

🌸 English Meaning:
Who else do I have but You, O Lord?
O Mukunda, Keshava, Narayana.
I wait at the shore of Your ocean of grace,
O Panduranga, the enchantment of the Gopis. ||1||
O Hari, protect my honor, preserve me by Your grace.
Forgive all my countless sins,
I am but Your playful child, O Panduranga. ||2||
Even if all enemies rise against me,
With Your support I remain unshaken.
Grant me kindness, forgiveness, and peace—
Through that, devotion to You will blossom. ||3||
O Narayana, I have no strength of my own.
If any compassion stirs in You, let it fall upon me.
Tukaram pleads: “I am helpless, O Lord—
Make me Your very own, O Panduranga.” ||4||
🪔 Reflection:
This heartfelt abhang of Sant Tukaram Maharaj reveals the essence of the Varkari tradition—complete surrender to Lord Panduranga. Tukaram does not boast of knowledge, rituals, or strength. Instead, he admits his helplessness, declaring that without God, he is nothing. He pleads for compassion, forgiveness, and peace, and assures that only divine grace can nurture true bhakti. This is the hallmark of Tukaram’s poetry—raw honesty before the divine, a child-like dependence, and a deep trust that God alone is the savior. Historically, Tukaram (1608–1649) was a saint-poet from Dehu, Maharashtra, whose abhangas became the voice of ordinary people. His verses, sung during the Pandharpur wari even today, connect humanity’s frailty with God’s infinite mercy. This abhang holds a special significance as it portrays Panduranga not only as the cosmic Lord but as the personal caretaker of His devotee. In today’s world of uncertainty, Tukaram’s prayer reminds us that surrender is not weakness—it is strength born out of faith. To say “Make me Your own, O Panduranga” is to embrace the divine as our true companion, guide, and refuge. 🙏
