🌸 English Meaning:

O ocean of compassion and mercy,
You uplift the world with your grace.
O Shri Datta Digambara, infinite ocean of kindness,
Victory to Shri Pad Vallabha, the radiant Digambara. ||

Adorned with the beauty of rudraksha beads,
Seated under the sacred Audumbara tree,
Absorbed in the meditation of Lord Shankara,
You are the savior of the world,
O Shri Datta Digambara, ocean of compassion. ||

When a vow is offered with devotion, you are pleased,
And what the Guru grants cannot be equaled.
You protect all devotees with open-hearted generosity,
Such is your benevolence, O Dattatreya. ||

O ocean of compassion and mercy,
You uplift the world with your boundless grace.
O Shri Pad Vallabha Digambara,
We bow again and again in surrender. ||

🪔 Reflection:
This bhajan dedicated to Shri Dattatreya overflows with simplicity, devotion, and surrender. The composer Pandurang Sitaram Laghate has beautifully invoked the divine image of Datta seated beneath the Audumbara tree, a symbol deeply revered in Datta tradition. The repeated call of “Digambara, Shri Pad Vallabha Digambara” reminds devotees of Shri Pada Shri Vallabha, regarded as the first incarnation of Lord Dattatreya in Kali Yuga, who walked the soil of Andhra and spread the path of bhakti, compassion, and protection for all seekers. The song emphasizes Datta’s role as the universal Guru—one who responds to every prayer, fulfills vows, and safeguards devotees in all circumstances. Listening or singing this bhajan is not just an act of music but an immersion into the ocean of mercy where Datta becomes both the protector and the guide. Its simplicity makes it accessible, and its depth makes it eternal—a reminder that surrender to the Guru is the surest path to divine grace. 🙏
