English Meaning:
Panduranga, Lord of Pandharpur,
You are Nada Brahma—the divine sound—and the true guiding guru, Vittala.
You came and made your home in Pandharpur,
And brought peace into the hearts of devotees.
You granted wisdom to the saint Tukaram,
And brightened the company of saints. || 1 ||
After bathing in the sacred river Chandrabhaga,
Singing your praise brings blissful joy.
The jingling rhythms echo melodiously,
With victorious chants, the bhajan fills the air. || 2 ||
Meditating on Vittala, drinking the nectar of his name—
Vittala is the generous deity who gives to all. || 3 ||
Reflection:
This devotional song, sung with heartfelt emotion by Shankar and Channappa, is a melodic offering to Lord Vittala—an incarnation of Krishna worshipped in Pandharpur. The lyrics beautifully weave together the spiritual atmosphere of Pandharpur, the river Chandrabhaga, and the legacy of saints like Tukaram. It's a reminder of how divine presence brings both inner peace and collective harmony.
The mention of “naadabrahma” points to the sacredness of sound—how divine music and chanting transcend words to connect us to the eternal. Singing and listening to such bhajans doesn't just entertain—it uplifts. Through their performances in homes and villages, these folk artists preserve the living heritage of Dasara Padagalu, ensuring that the spirit of devotion continues to flow like the Chandrabhaga itself.
Their sincere efforts—driven not by fame, but love for music and culture—serve as a humble but powerful service to society. Supporting such artists is a way of honoring our roots and keeping our traditions alive.
