English Meaning

Come, let's go to Pandhari, to see the beloved of our soul.

Let's bathe in the Bhima river, and apply the dust of saints' feet on our heads. (Chorus)

With the garland of Tulsi beads as our guide, and sandalwood paste on our foreheads,

Let us meditate deeply and sing Hari with true devotion. (Verse 1)

Vitthal is present everywhere, Pandhari is the marketplace of the world.

There is no other Vaikuntha, let us always remain here steadfastly. (Verse 2)

We neither die nor are born, distinctions are of no concern to us.

Says Tukaram, let us bow our heads at the lotus feet of Ghanshyam. (Verse 3)

Reflection:

This abhang is a heartfelt invitation to walk together—to Pandharpur, and deeper still, to the heart where Vitthal lives. Tukaram Maharaj speaks not of a distant God, but of a beloved soul-friend—jivlaga—who waits to be seen with love, not just with eyes.

Bathing in Bhima, touching the feet of saints, wearing tulsi beads—these are not mere rituals, but signs of surrender, of wanting nothing but God. The mind becomes quiet, the name of Hari begins to flow, and slowly, everything else fades.

For Tukaram, Pandharpur is not a place—it’s where the Lord is near, where love is simple, and where the soul feels at home. In that space, there’s no birth, no death, no differences—only devotion, only Vitthal.
