English Meaning
The beloved deity of Sri Nivasa Raaya, the controller of the multitudes, the eternal friend of the masses, and the reason behind the banner of victory. Come, O Bhakutara Priya Shrinivasa Raaya!
The triumphant Lord of the Marajanaka Mukuta, the victorious deity Shrinivasa Raaya.
Oh, the exuberant sound of the drums, the divine tunes of the celestial flute, and the compassionate glances of Nandanandan! Oh Narasimha, reclining gracefully on the ocean bed, adorned with the moon and attended by Brahma and Indra! The revered sage Sanaka and others come dancing with joy, chanting hymns of praise, creating an atmosphere of bliss and delight in the hearts.
The creator of the universe, Govinda, who wears the earth as a garment, and who graciously appears in a diminutive form for the pleasure of His devotees. Oh Madhava, who is praised in countless scriptures and is surrounded by gods, birds, animals, and the moon! The dwellers of the celestial abode joyfully sing His praises, creating an enchanting melody that resonates throughout the heavens.
Oh Lalita Vakula, the beloved of Gopala and Vitthala! Oh compassionate Lakuminala, who never delays in responding to the pleas of His devotees! With a loving glance, He beckons His devotees, swiftly lifting the serpent Kaliya from the depths of the river, without even informing His beloved Radha. He expertly dances on the hoods of Kaliya, creating a spectacle of divine splendor.
Oh Narahari, who quickly rushes to the aid of His devotees, without delay! Oh compassionate one, who effortlessly lifts the Govardhana mountain to protect His devotees from the wrath of Indra! With a playful smile, He subdues the venomous serpent, gracefully intertwining with it amidst the tumultuous waves.
This beautiful Devotional Song was written by Sri Gopala Dasa (1721–1769) a prominent 18th-century Kannada language poet and saint belonging to the Haridasa tradition
