ವಾಸುದೇವ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ್ನ ಸೂಸಿ ಪೂಜಿಸುವಂಥ

ದಾಸರೆಂದರೆ ಪುರಂದರದಾಸರಯ್ಯ || ಪ ||

ಗ್ರಾಸಕಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಪೋಗಿ ಪರರ ಮನೆಗಳ ಪೊಕ್ಕು

ದಾಸನೆಂದು ತುಲಸಿ ಮಾಲೆ ಧರಿಸಿ

ಬೇಸರಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರ ಕಾಡಿ ಬಳಲಿಸುತ

ಕಾಸುಗಳಿಸುವ ಪುರುಷ ಹರಿದಾಸನೇ || 1 ||

ಡಂಭಕದಿ ಹರಿಸ್ಮರಣೆಮಾಡಿ ಜನರಾ ಮುಂದೆ

ಸಂಭ್ರಮದಿ ತಾನುಂಬ ಊಟ ಬಯಸಿ

ಅಂಬುಜೋದ್ಭವ ಪಿತನ ಆಗಮಗಳರಿಯದೇ

ತಂಬೂರಿ ಮೀಟಲವ ಹರಿದಾಸನೇ || 2 ||

ಯಾಯಿವಾರವ ಮಾಡಿ ವಿಪ್ರರಿಗೆ ಮೃಷ್ಟಾನ್ನ

ಪ್ರೀಯದಲಿ ತಾನೊಂದು ಕೊಡದ ಲೋಭಿ

ಮಾಯಾ ಸಂಸಾರದಲಿ ಮಮತೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿಟ್ಟು

ಗಾಯನವ ಮಾಡಲವ ಹರಿದಾಸನೇ || 3 ||

ನೀತಿಯೆಲ್ಲವನರಿತು ನಿಗಮವೇದ್ಯನ

ನಿತ್ಯ ವಾತಸುತನಲ್ಲಿಹನ ವರ್ಣಿಸುತಲಿ

ಗೀತ ನರ್ತನದಿಂದ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಪೂಜಿಸುವ

ಪೂತಾತ್ಮ ಪುರಂದರ ದಾಸರಿವರಯ್ಯ || 4 ||

English Meaning : 

Worshipping Lord Vasudeva Krishna
He is true Dasa known as Purandaradasa

With greed, they go from house to house desiring only food,

Wearing Tulasi Garlands like Saint,  

Constantly behind others to fulfill their own needs,
Can anybody who is just behind earning money be a true Hari Dasa ? 

Chanting the name of eternal Sri Hari with false devotion,
Desiring to have feast as per his wish to fill their stomach,
Without understanding all righteousness, as per the scriptures,

Can by just playing the tambura be a true Hari Dasa  ?

Making elaborate feast at his home, 

But not donating any food to Brahmins,

Deeply entrenched in worldly activities of his life of Maya 
Can he be a true Haridasa by just singing Bhajans ?

Understanding all the righteousness, as per the scriptures,

Praising glories of Lord Hari at all times,

Worshipping Lord Krishna by singing and dancing,
He is the truly pure soul known as Sri Purandaradasa

A truly special thing here to note is that this composition was created by none other than the Guru of Sri Purandaradasa himself. Sri Vyasarajaru praises his Shishya Purandaradasa with whole heart. He describes in this song, who is true Hari Dasa and who is fake Hari Dasa.
