📜 Original Script Section

🌸 English Meaning
Digambara, Digambara, Shri Padavallabha Digambara
The chant rises as the Palkhi of Lord Dattatreya begins its sacred journey.
The Lord’s palanquin moves gently,
And we feel blessed, filled with a quiet, deep joy.
Adorned with jewels and soft velvet,
Fragrant flowers rest on it, lightly moistened with dew.
A cool breeze brushes past, soft like sandalwood.
This fortune is earned over many lifetimes,
That we become humble bearers of the Palkhi.
The Lord’s peaceful presence is like the first light of dawn.
The winding path pulls the heart forward,
Ahead appears the holy land of Narsobachi Wadi,
And in our eyes, the Ganga begins to flow—alive and speaking.
🪔 Reflection
This beautiful composition by Pravin Davane draws from the timeless devotion surrounding Lord Dattatreya and the sacred Palkhi traditions of Maharashtra and Karnataka. Today being Datta Jayanti, the atmosphere itself feels charged with gratitude, making it a wonderful moment to bow our hearts to Lord Dattatreya Bhagavan. Lord Datta, the divine form of the Trimurti—Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh—represents the perfect harmony of creation, preservation, and dissolution. His life teaches simplicity, humility, and the profound truth that the entire universe can become our teacher when the heart is open.
The song captures the essence of pilgrimage—devotees walking together, chanting “Digambara,” and feeling the Lord’s presence in every breeze and every step. The gentle sway of the Palkhi becomes a symbol of grace, the flowers and sandal-scented air become reminders of purity, and the entire journey turns into meditation. Becoming “palkhi-che bhoi,” even in imagination, invites deep humility, reminding us that service to the Divine is the highest blessing. What parts of your life feel like this sacred walk? How does carrying the divine presence shape your day-to-day choices? This bhajan gently shows that devotion often hides in quiet moments—love without expectation, service without pride, and surrender without fear. In that stillness, the inner Ganga begins to flow, guiding us back to the Lord with every heartbeat.
