🌸 English Meaning:

O Narayana, I seek refuge in You;
O King, have mercy upon me. ||Refrain||

Mother, father, son, wife, and brother—
None come to help in my hour of need. ||1||

The ocean of worldly existence is vast and perilous,
Your feet alone are my boat across. ||2||

I have committed countless sins in this world,
Now Your honor is tied to my redemption. ||3||

Brahmanand says: by Your compassion alone
All my sorrows vanish and run away. ||4||

🪔 Reflection:

This bhajan is the cry of a heart laid bare before the Divine. There is no display of scholarship or ritual—just raw surrender. The poet, Swami Brahmanand, speaks as every soul that realizes worldly attachments—no matter how dear—cannot ultimately rescue us from the depth of suffering. In the vast ocean of worldly sorrow, it is only Narayana’s feet that become the boat.

There is a profound simplicity in the line “तुमरे चरण जहाज हमारे”—God’s feet are not just a place of worship but the very vessel that carries us across life’s storms. The plea is humble yet bold: “तुमको है अब लाज हमारे”—my salvation is Your responsibility. This is not arrogance, but the highest form of trust, the surrender that melts all karma. As Brahmanand affirms, when grace enters, pain exits without a sound. For those drowning in despair or entangled in worldly illusions, this bhajan offers not just comfort, but a path: surrender, and be carried. 🙏

English Meaning

O Lord Hari, I ask for nothing from You—
Only to dwell within the lotus of my heart.

Let my head bow at Your feet,
Let my eyes behold Your divine form,
Let my ears be filled with the melody of Your glories,
Let my nose smell the holy offerings made unto You.

Let my tongue sing Your praises,
Let my hands serve only You,
Let my feet journey on pilgrimages to Your sacred abodes,
Grant me the grace to meditate upon You always.

Let my intellect dance within Your presence,
Let my mind rejoice in Your divine being,
May I find the company of Your true devotees, O Ranga—
O Vittala, may Your compassion always flow upon me.
